Research and Development

The unique technical capabilities and expertise of our R&D team have resulted in the development, type qualification and manufacturing of an extensive range of niche products to meet emerging needs.

Favoring a collaborative approach at every level, General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems – Canada (GD-OTS – Canada)  works with government and research agencies, identifying current and future needs and problems, adapting existing products or working in partnership with other companies on the development of new, customized products or services. We transform research concepts into fully qualified ammunition products.

The R&D department has worked on a number of NATO international projects including 155mm Autonomous Precision Guided Munition, Area Defence Weapon, Multi-Spectral Obscurants, Multi-Purpose Base Armoured Vehicle, Insensitive Munitions Information Center and Soldier Modernization Program. Participation in these projects has helped us establish close working relationships with a number of European and U.S. defense companies. In addition, the R&D department has carried out several research and development projects with U.S. Army Armament Research Development Engineering Center (ARDEC) and joint venture projects with U.S. defense companies.
